Starting this year Wild Horse Outreach & Advocacy is offering weekend Mustang gentling clinics in a small group format (limited to 6 participants, open to auditors).
What to expect:
You will be asked to provide information on what you are interested in learning prior to the clinic.
We will do a morning check-in as a group and go over the plan for the day. Then each participant will receive one-on-one guidance, one at a time, according to the goals they have identified for the clinic. We will debrief as a group at the end of each day.
We will provide the horses for these clinics. If you are interested in bringing your own un- or partially gentled Mustang, please contact us ahead of time to discuss options.
This is a gentling clinic, covering topics from the first session to first touch and haltering, teaching basic body control, leading, feet handling and trailer loading, up to getting the horse ready for riding, packing or driving.
Depending on interest, we can also cover tying, obstacles, hobbling, ponying, ground driving and anything else you might be curious about.
There will be ample time for participants and auditors to ask questions. All of our clinic participants are welcome to stay in touch so you’re not alone if follow up questions arise or you would like to come back (or stay longer, ask about options; you may want/be able to add Horsemanship Intensive days to make the most of your time here) for more learning.
When: Our Horsemanship Intensives and Mustang Gentling Workshops as well as Auditing opportunities are available weather and schedule permitting year-round.
Clinic hours are 9am to 4pm with a lunch break (please bring your lunch).
What to bring: Chair, plenty of water, lunch, sunscreen, hat, layers for our temperamental Colorado weather (we’re at 8700ft), gloves (rope burn is no fun) and closed toe shoes with good traction.
Housing: Off-site accommodations available, we’re happy to discuss options. No dogs on site please.
Cost: $200/day for participants. $75/day for auditors.
