Wild Horse Outreach & Advocacy (WHOA) is a Colorado 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping wild Mustangs successfully transition from life in the wild to life with humans.
Since 2017 we’ve been gentling and training Mustangs federal agencies gather from public lands, preparing them for adoption, and helping adopters and owners build knowledgeable, lasting partnerships with their horses.
Leaving the range marks a monumental shift in a Mustang’s life. We work hard to make their next chapter their best one.

We give Mustangs the time, patience, skills and individualized training they need to become confident, willing partners.
Adoption
We carefully match Mustangs with homes prepared to meet the unique needs of a formerly wild horse.
Adopter Support
Our relationship doesn’t end at adoption. We provide guidance to current and prospective Mustang owners so horses and humans can succeed together.
Advocacy & Education
We help people better understand Mustangs, responsible ownership, adoption and the challenges wild horses face after leaving public lands.

For a wild horse coming off the range, the journey from living wild to domestic life may be the biggest challenge they face in life, and a lot hinges on the outcome.
A successful transition takes more than teaching a horse to accept touch and wear tack.
It takes patience. Knowledge. Compassion. Time.
It takes people who can help Mustangs learn how to thrive in a world that’s foreign and scary for them at first.
